ABOUT THE ROLE

The Transmission Acquisition Operator will manage all technical and operational workflows within the Content Acquisition Center. This will include routing, monitoring, conforming and troubleshooting all inbound and outbound feeds. This position will work closely with the scheduling and digital team to ensure all feeds and deliverables are met. This role will be part of the Transmission and Digital Operations team that will be responsible for delivering a high quality and accurate viewer experience to millions of viewers across the digital viewing apps.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Transmission Acquisition Operations

  • Works as part of the tech team that will perform all monitoring and switching of all inbound feeds.

  • Troubleshoots and fixes signal quality and routing issues according to standard operating procedures

  • Executes live transmission signal check-ins with remote production venues during live events

  • Set up and tests all equipment required to receive and distribute feeds to and from the facility

  • Handles communication with the partners on any issues or discrepancies associated with the inbound feeds

Collaboration & Partnerships 

  • Supports Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery teams

  • Partners with the Engineering Operations team to troubleshoot and resolve issues 

  • Critical member of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) development team

  • Works closely with the management team and provides  world class customer service support

Performance Improvement

  • Promotes the use of real-time analytics and data to make key operational decisions

  • Tracks operations dashboards and constantly looks for ways to make things works better, faster, and smoother

People Management & Development

  • Inspires a positive work culture of continuous learning, especially in emerging technologies

  • Utilizes existing career development programs to advance career 

  • Builds and motivates high performing teams to deliver high quality service

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Experience working within broadcast and distribution teams

  • Experience with media transmission systems and terrestrial and satellite distribution systems

  • Experience with testing equipment, such as signal generators, waveform monitors, and transport stream monitors 

  • Technical knowledge of Media Supply Chain, Live Production, and Over the Top (OTT) Systems

  • Work well in a fast-paced environment and make quick decisions

  • Ability to translate and communicate business requirements into operational and technical requirements

NICE TO HAVE, BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER

  • A bachelor’s degree is awesome, but not required

  • Knowledge of emerging technologies such as 4K High Dynamic Range, and HDR10+ 

  • Knowledge of industry standards such as Advanced Media Workflow Association (AMWA) and Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE)

SCHEDULE/SHIFT

Must be able to work a variety of shifts, including overnights, weekends, holidays, etc.
