JOB DESCRIPTION

“The Story with Martha MacCallum” is seeking a Breaking News Producer with extensive control room experience who can write scripts as news happens, create compelling and accurate lower thirds for live events and quickly build up-to-date research on late-breaking stories. The ideal candidate has experience writing under tight deadlines, manages pressure with composure and has solid editorial judgement. The Breaking News Producer will also step-in as back-up Line Producer on occasion.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Write up-to-date scripts under tight deadlines
Build compelling and concise lower thirds during live events
Monitor multiple sources for new developments on breaking stories
Quickly turn relevant sound, visuals, and graphics in the control room

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

5+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of skills and demonstrated experience.
Prior experience copy-editing
Experience timing a live show in a control room
Strong interest/knowledge of current events and politics
A passion for storytelling with a strong creative drive; willingness to take risks
Editorial confidence to execute a show roadmap
A Bachelor's degree in journalism or a related field of study preferred, or equivalent experience

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $83,000.00-116,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
