JOB DESCRIPTION
Fox News Media is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Design Engineer to develop, maintain, and implement broadcast systems designs across our media facilities. This role will establish engineering standards, produce and review technical documentation, and ensure that system designs are accurately implemented in our in house NDOX documentation tool.
The ideal candidate has strong broadcast engineering experience, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to translate operational requirements into clear, scalable, and supportable systems designs.
A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design broadcast systems for studios, control rooms, production spaces, technical facilities, and supporting infrastructure.
- Define and maintain systems design standards, engineering guidelines, documentation requirements, drawing conventions, and design workflows.
- Develop system architectures, signal-flow diagrams, block diagrams, equipment lists, rack elevations, wiring documentation, network requirements, and technical specifications.
- Implement and maintain systems designs in NDOX, ensuring that design data, equipment information, system relationships, and documentation remain accurate and current.
- Review engineering drawings, system designs, technical specifications, bills of materials, vendor submittals, and installation documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established standards.
- Perform design reviews and provide technical feedback to engineering teams, vendors, contractors, and project stakeholders.
- Ensure that approved designs are implemented consistently during installation, integration, testing, commissioning, and operational handoff.
- Design and support baseband, IP, and hybrid broadcast systems using current industry practices and technologies.
- Develop solutions incorporating SMPTE ST 2110, NMOS, PTP, multicast networking, routing, storage, monitoring, control, and facility infrastructure.
- Collaborate with broadcast engineering, operations, IT, networking, facilities, and vendors to validate requirements and ensure system interoperability.
- Evaluate proposed technologies and equipment for technical suitability, lifecycle support, scalability, reliability, and alignment with engineering standards.
- Maintain accurate as-built documentation and update NDOX records following system modifications, upgrades, migrations, and commissioning activities.
- Participate in system testing, troubleshooting, acceptance reviews, and post-implementation assessments.
- Support continuous improvement of design processes, documentation quality, and system lifecycle management.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Broadcast Engineering, or a related field.
- At least five years of experience designing, integrating, or supporting complex broadcast, media, audiovisual, or technical infrastructure systems.
- Strong knowledge of broadcast system architecture, signal flow, routing, synchronization, monitoring, control, and facility infrastructure.
- Experience developing and reviewing detailed engineering documentation and technical drawings.
- Experience defining or applying engineering standards, design criteria, documentation practices, and quality-control processes.
- Experience working with systems databases, documentation platforms, or facilities engineering management tools; experience with NDOX is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with IP-based broadcast technologies, including SMPTE ST 2110, NMOS, PTP, multicast, and networked media systems.
- Experience designing baseband, IP, and hybrid broadcast environments.
- Working knowledge of broadcast control systems, media asset management, storage, automation, monitoring, and cloud-based media workflows.
- Proficiency with technical design and documentation tools such as AutoCAD, Visio, Lucidchart, or similar platforms.
- Strong understanding of networking, VLANs, routing, switching, storage, cybersecurity principles, and system interoperability.
- Experience reviewing vendor designs, submittals, installation drawings, test documentation, and as-built records.
- Strong communication, collaboration, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Project coordination experience and PMP certification are preferred but not required.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $114,000.00-160,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
