Fox News Media is seeking a highly accomplished Lead Designer to join our creative team. This is a senior-level role for a designer with exceptional creative instincts and a proven track record of developing industry-leading visual design.
The Lead Designer will work closely with the VP of Creative and Art Directors to conceptualize and animate multi-platform projects such as show packages, IDs, show opens, and set scenic designs for all FOX News Media platforms. This person will guide other motion designers to execute projects based on their work and ensure design consistency across all Fox News Media brands.
The Lead Designer may also step in to support or lead initiatives typically handled by an Art Director, helping shape creative direction across teams and projects.
A SNAPSHOT OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the visual development and animation of premium design for new show packages, redesigns, studio displays, and segments with a focus on building out show opens from start to finish
Support rapid-turnaround graphics needs in breaking news without compromising creative quality
Mentor and inspire designers and motion artists through thoughtful creative feedback and leadership
Develop and maintain brand guidelines to ensure a high standard and consistency across all Fox News Media platforms
Stay knowledgeable about all content to ensure the team is producing engaging key art and toolkits across platforms
Analyze the evolution of competitive networks on all platforms
Anticipate and apply trends in design, branding, broadcast graphics, digital experiences, and visual storytelling
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
Experience working in design and production for live news or digital
Portfolio demonstrating original visual design, conceptual thinking, branding, typography, composition, and creative problem-solving
Proven experience developing and designing broadcast show opens from initial concept through final execution.
Ability to conceive, develop, and execute bold, innovative creative ideas.
Exceptional typography, layout, and visual design skills, with a keen eye for detail and storytelling.
Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
Advanced proficiency in After Effects and Cinema 4D with the ability to build polished, broadcast-quality animations and motion systems
Expert understanding of motion design principles including animation, timing, pacing, transitions, and visual hierarchy
Experience leading a team to execute a design including giving feedback and meeting deadlines
Ability to take initial direction and then execute independently with minimal supervision
A thorough knowledge of branding systems and identities
Project management and organizational skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high pressure news environment under tight deadlines
Ability to problem-solve and work effectively with changing priorities/deadlines
Bachelor's degree in Design/Communication or equivalent is preferred
Vizrt, video production, UI/UX, and web design experience a plus

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $54.75-73.00 per hour. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
