FOX 35 Orlando is seeking an experienced, dynamic, and editorially strong Anchor/Reporter to join our newsroom. This role is designed for a journalist who excels in live, unscripted coverage and understands the demands of a modern, streaming-first news operation. The ideal candidate is an authentic communicator, a skilled storyteller, and a collaborative newsroom leader who can create impactful content across linear, digital, streaming, and social platforms.
This position requires creativity, originality, innovation, discretion, and sound news judgment to gather, prepare, and disseminate news stories during newscasts, live reports, and taped reports. The successful candidate will be equally effective behind the anchor desk, in the field, and across emerging audience platforms, while maintaining the highest standards of journalistic integrity and professionalism.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Anchor newscasts and deliver news in a clear, confident, and authentic manner.
Thrive in live, unscripted news coverage without reliance on a teleprompter. Strong ad-libbing ability and comfort with unscripted coverage
Deliver news and information in real time with professionalism, composure, and strong audience connection.
Interact effectively, both in scripted and unscripted settings, with co-anchors, reporters, meteorologists, producers, and invited guests.
Regularly create and contribute content for digital, streaming, social media, and linear newscasts.
Demonstrate a clear understanding of and commitment to a streaming-first newsroom strategy.
Serve as an editorial leader in the newsroom by collaborating with managers, producers, and newsroom staff on content development and rundowns.
Remain current on local, national, and international news, issues, and events.
Regularly report, write, and present stories from both the set and the field.
Write and edit news copy for broadcast and digital platforms.
Organize material, determine story emphasis, and write content in a fair, accurate, clear, and compelling manner.
Gather, verify, and confirm factual information through interviews, observation, and research.
Meet all scheduling, production, and broadcast deadlines.
Review newscasts and coverage to ensure editorial and production objectives are achieved.
Contribute strong story ideas for both daily coverage and long-term enterprise reporting.
Represent the station in a positive and professional manner to foster public goodwill and strengthen community relationships.
Report to work outside normal schedules, as needed, to assist with coverage during severe weather, breaking news, and other urgent newsroom situations.
Good news judgment and a strong understanding of fair and accurate journalism practices
The ability to tell engaging stories and ask thoughtful, probing questions during interviews and live Q&A with reporters and guests
Excellent writing skills and thorough knowledge of current events
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
A collaborative, team-oriented mindset
Working knowledge of newsroom computer systems and related technology
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform other duties as assigned.
Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
Maintain responsibility for all equipment issued by FOX.
Complete exempt time sheets fully, accurately, and by required deadlines.
Work varied hours, including holidays, weekends, and severe weather situations, as needed and/or
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum of 3 years of experience working as a reporter and/or anchor in a medium or large market preferred
Proven ability to perform effectively in live, unscripted, and breaking news environments
Strong editorial judgment and decision-making ability
Demonstrated skill in writing, reporting, interviewing, and on-air presentation
Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced, deadline-driven newsroom
EDUCATION: College degree in communications/journalism or related field preferred.
OTHER: Good news judgment and knowledge of fair and accurate journalism practices. Ability to tell stories, ask good probing questions in Q&A with reporters and ad-lib effectively. Strong writing skills and thorough knowledge of current events. Excellent people and communication skills; must be a team player

TYPICAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:
Regularly stand; walk, sit, reach with hands and arms; and; talk or hear. Occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $150,000.00-185,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
