ABOUT THE ROLE
Our Senior Staff Video Distribution Engineer builds and maintains cutting-edge compression and digital distribution platforms for one of the premier national broadcasters.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Engineering & Support
Acts as Tier 1 support for all on-air broadcast systems
Creates standard operating procedures and documentation to support the operations team in a 24/7 environment
Builds and maintains FOX’s compression and transport infrastructure
Conducts lab, performance, and system tests and prototype efforts to continually evolve FOX’s architecture and infrastructure
Collaboration & Partnerships
Supports the Media Control Center in day-to-day operations and assists users with technical issues or concerns
Partners with Engineering and Standards & Advanced Technology teams to develop groundbreaking technology solutions
Collaborates with operations teams and third-party vendors to develop strategy, product development, and road maps
Continuous Improvement
Uses data to drive informed business decisions and continuously improve performance
Analyzes dashboards to optimize system security and testing, reduce bugs, and accelerate product delivery
Prioritizes Objectives and Key Results to motivate and align team efforts

WHAT YOU WILL NEED
Experience maintaining and troubleshooting compressed and uncompressed video workflows
Strong understanding of MPEG/JPEG decoding, encoding, transcoding, multiplexing, encryption/decryption, uplink/downlink, and master control
Expertise in SCTE insertion systems and media contribution/distribution workflows
Familiarity with on-prem test and measurement platforms and cross-team collaboration
Advanced knowledge of satellite and linear distribution systems, including deployment, monitoring, and data analysis
Leadership experience with new project deployment and technical testing/validation
Experience evolving infrastructure using SMPTE ST 2110 standards
Deep knowledge of SDI video transport and new codecs/compression standards (e.g., SRT, RTP, Zixi, HLS)
Strong networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, OSI model, subnetting, VLANs, and basic switch configuration
Ability to identify and troubleshoot network addressing issues
Proficiency in using LLMs (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude) to accelerate Python scripting for workflow automation and API integrations
Practical experience using AI tools for engineering and operations
NICE TO HAVE, BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER
Advanced knowledge of video compression and codecs such as SMPTE ST 2110, JPEGXS, HEVC
Experience with emerging tech such as 4K HDR and HDR10+
Familiarity with industry standards including ATSC and SMPTE
Basic Linux administration (system configuration, scripting, CLI proficiency)
Solid experience with Windows OS setup, configuration, and support

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $16,000.00-185,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
