JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a talented and creative Graphic Thumbnail Designer to craft visually compelling YouTube thumbnails that drive click-through rates and viewer engagement. This designer will play a key role in shaping the visual identity of content across channels by translating ideas and storylines into high-impact images that stand out in a crowded digital space.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design eye-catching, high-impact thumbnails for YouTube videos to increase CTR and engagement

• Collaborate closely with video editors, content creators, and the marketing team to align on messaging and audience targeting

• Translate video concepts and emotional beats into compelling visual designs

• Experiment with different styles, layouts, and text treatments to optimize performance

• Maintain brand consistency while pushing creative boundaries

• Stay current on YouTube design trends, best practices, and algorithm updates

• Organize and manage thumbnail assets and design templates for efficiency

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

• 1+ year of experience designing YouTube thumbnails or social media graphics (portfolio required)

• Expertise in Adobe Photoshop, Canva, or similar tools

• Strong understanding of digital design principles: color theory, contrast, composition, and typography

• Ability to communicate emotion and storytelling visually to drive clicks

• Basic understanding of how YouTube analytics tie into thumbnail performance

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to accept and apply feedback constructively

• Strong attention to detail and time management skills to meet rapid content deadlines

NICE TO HAVE, BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER

• Experience with motion thumbnails or animation (e.g., After Effects, Premiere Pro)

• Familiarity with A/B testing and data-driven design decision-making

• Passion for YouTube creators, content trends, and platform culture

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $25.75-35.00 per hour. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
