KRIV FOX 26 / KTXH My20, the FOX Duopoly in HOUSTON, TX is re-imagining how local news is gathered and delivered. We're looking for a photojournalist/ content creator with a passion for creativity and ingenuity. We know you will appreciate the basics of covering breaking news, severe weather and gathering compelling video and interviews. But we’re even more passionate about how you’ll help us deliver that great content on our streaming platform, website and social media pages.
At FOX 26, we no longer wait for appointed times to deliver content. Our strategy is 24/7 content delivery. Throughout your shift, we’ll be leaning on you to distribute live content or through channels like Slack to help meet the needs of our audience. On many days, you’ll be paired with a reporter who will also create and distribute content with this same mindset. Other days you may be working independently, and we may even suggest you be part of our on-air content delivery through live voice-overs or even an occasional live on-camera appearance to help us tell the story.
To be successful in this role, you’ll need to evolve shooting and editing skills beyond linear television thinking and workflows. We’re evolving our content to embrace non-traditional storytelling formats that deliver relevant, memorable, and impactful storytelling. This means fewer “TV news packages” and more of the storytelling techniques preferred by digital audiences.
A minimum of 3 years of experience in medium-to large markets is preferred, but we will consider all forms of photographer / editing work, not just previous television experience. Your resume and reel should reflect a daily focus on compelling storytelling for digital platforms. You must be willing to work early mornings, late-night shifts, weekends and holidays as needed and be able to travel for out-of-town assignments. Houston experiences year-round high impact weather events and newsroom staff must be available to work on site or in the field when scheduled. Must have a valid driver's license.
We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, gender identity, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law. We will consider for employment qualified applicants with criminal histories consistent with applicable law.
Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $30.00-33.00 per hour. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
