JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Duties:

Fox Cable Network Services, LLC seeks a Software Developer (Senior Engineer, Platforms), responsible for building a platform to support APIs around FOX’s live direct to consumer video APIs for events such as the Super Bowl, World Cup, World Series and US elections.  Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for solving thundering herd problems including partnering with the application team to load test, scale up and scale back down again.  Specific duties include: 1) Serve as technical SME for the implementation and operation of cloud-based platform including EKS and other AWS services supporting live direct to consumer video APIs and solving associated thundering herd problems including load testing, scaling up and scaling back down again.  2) Work closely with Video and Player Engineering, Cloud Engineering and SRE teams to help implement scalability, cost visibility and observability in the platform.  3) Assist with product/technology selection including implementation of POCs.  4) Perform post-incident analysis to identify root causes and potential workarounds/solutions.  5) Be fluid and open to change and evolving processes and tools. Telecommuting is permitted up to 50%/week within normal commuting distance of Fox office in Los Angeles, CA.

Job Requirements:

Requires a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or related field, plus two (2) years of software development or related experience developing Shell, Python, Terraform and Helm scripts to automate CI/CD process, including experience building and deploying microservices applications; creating Kubernetes clusters; implementing production ready, load balanced, highly available and scalable infrastructure; and using Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) or Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).

*Specific skills: Also requires experience in the following: 1)Utilizing YAML, Dockerfile and GIT; 2) Configuring and administering Linux/ubuntu operating systems; 3) Monitoring tools such as Prometheus and Grafana; 4) Implementing Role Based Access Control (RBAC) to manage Kubernetes cluster access; and 5) Network protocols including TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS and security protocols including SSL/TLS

Telecommuting is permitted up to 50%/week within normal commuting distance of Fox office in Los Angeles, CA.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $161,096.80-177,206.00 annually. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
