KRIV FOX 26 / KTXH My20, the FOX Duopoly in HOUSTON, TX is re-imagining how local news is gathered and delivered. We're hiring a Sports Producer who has a passion for creating content across the complete spectrum of sports, from professional teams to high school athletics.
At FOX 26, we no longer wait for appointed times to deliver content. We’re meeting our audiences on their terms and sharing news content throughout the day and night. To be successful in this role, you’ll need to evolve beyond linear television thinking and workflows. You will need to embrace non-traditional storytelling formats that bring relevant, memorable, and impactful storytelling to our live stream, website, social platforms and eventually on our linear channel. To boil it down even further: We’re not big on packages and we challenge our content creators to tell stories with less formality, more authenticity (no “anchor voices”) and in ways that are tailored specifically to platform.
You’ll need to be a self-starter with excellent organizational and communication skills. You’ll take ownership of planning and executing sports coverage in collaboration with other members of the sports team, newsroom managers, the assignment desk, news producers, anchors and reporters. You’ll help create content through creative shooting and editing on smartphones and other devices, distilling complex themes into easily digestible forms using text, graphics and music. And you’ll have the opportunity to appear on-camera to deliver the content you produce for our all-day streaming audience, for social media, and for our linear channel when the content meets the needs of those specific audiences.
A minimum of 3 years of experience is preferred and a robust social media presence is required for consideration. The work you present as your portfolio should reflect a daily focus on telling stories for a digital first audience independent of linear television. You must be able to work early mornings, late-night shifts, weekends and holidays as needed. Houston experiences year-round high impact weather events and all newsroom staff (including sports staff) must be available to work on site or in the field when scheduled. Must have a valid driver's license.
We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, gender identity, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law. We will consider for employment qualified applicants with criminal histories consistent with applicable law.
Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $67,000.00-77,062.00 annually. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
