FOX Television Stations owns and operates 29 full power broadcast television stations in the U.S. These include stations located in 14 of the top 15 largest designated market areas, or DMAs, and duopolies in 11 DMAs, including the three largest DMAs (New York, Los Angeles and Chicago). Of these stations, 18 are affiliated with the FOX Network. In addition to distributing sports, entertainment and syndicated content, our television stations collectively produce approximately 1,200 hours of local news every week. These stations leverage viewer, distributor and advertiser demand for the FOX Network’s national content.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Forecasting Houston’s dynamic weather is a 24/7 job and FOX26 is committed to delivering the most accurate, urgent and compelling weather coverage to Houstonians online, on streaming platforms, on social media, and on linear TV.

From hurricanes and tropical storms, to flooding, tornadoes, drought and the annual artic blast that cripples the city, FOX 26 meteorologists put our digital audiences first, translating complex weather information into digestible forecasts and severe weather alerts that are easy to view and too important not to share.

We’re hiring a Meteorologist for a temporary, 90-day position that will cover Weekend AM shifts along with some weekday morning shifts as needed. You may also be called on to help produce and co-host a daily weather streaming show.

This position would also be responsible for extended live weather cut-ins and wall-to-wall coverage if severe weather conditions warrant.

A degree in meteorology is preferred, but we will consider candidates who are in pursuit of their formal degree. Must have familiarity with Baron and WSI weather technology, and competency with digital and social media platforms.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $35.00-40.00 per hour.
